316L Stainless Steel is a low carbon, austenitic stainless alloy offering superior corrosion resistance in marine, saltwater, and chloride environments. The addition of molybdenum provides exceptional protection against pitting and crevice corrosion, making 316L a preferred grade for coastal and corrosive applications.

Often Paired With:
  • 316L Hex Head Cap Screws
Common Applications:
  • Marine fasteners
  • Chemical processing equipment
  • Food processing and pharmaceutical equipment
  • Medical implants and instruments
  • Heat exchangers and pressure vessels
  • Coastal construction hardware
  • High-moisture or corrosive environments
The “L” stands for low carbon (≤ 0.03%), which improves weldability and reduces the risk of carbide precipitation, a corrosion-promoting issue that can occur in regular 316 during welding or high-heat service.
