Pan Head Self Tapping Screws are sharp threaded fasteners designed to attach thin materials such as sheet metal, plastic, or wood. Their pan shaped head features a flat top with gently rounded sides, resembling a shallow frying pan, hence the name.

How it Works:
  • Taps (Cuts) threads as you drive it
  • Requires a pilot hole
Phillips Drive:
  • Designed to be self-centering, allowing faster engagement with power drivers
  • Engineered cam-out at a preset torque to reduce overtightening and fastener damage
  • While cam-out protects parts, it limits torque capacity, making Phillips drives less suitable for high-torquel applications
Point Types:
  • Both Type A and Type AB Points are Self Tapping, meaning they can cut or form their own threads in the base material
Common Uses:
  • Securing sheet metal panels (ductwork, enclosures, roofing)
  • Attaching brackets, hinges, or clips
  • Electrical boxes or conduit straps
  • Plastic and fiberglass parts
  • Light construction and DIY repairs

The terms “18-8” and “304” are often used interchangeably in reference to Stainless Fasteners. 18-8 Stainless Steel generally provides better corrosion resistance in most indoor and outdoor environments compared to Zinc Plated or Hot Dip Galvanized Fasteners.
